Create and edit notes

Carry a conversation on as a shared document.

On this page

Pick Note in the composer and you get an editable draft. The note stays linked to the conversation it came from, and your team can write and revise it with you in real time.

Create a note

You are only switching the type in the composer. It sits in the same place as chat and to-do, so there is no separate document tool to open.

① Choose Note on the left of the composer. The hint on the right changes to "Mark Note. Build a wiki note with your team."
The composer with Note selected
  1. Select Note in the composer.
  2. Type a title. This is what shows in the hub list.
Send with just a title and you get an empty note to fill in.

  1. Send, then open the note and write the body.

Turning an existing message into a note

  • A long message can be converted into a note and carried on from there.
  • Converting keeps everything already said.

Editing together

Everyone with the note open can edit it at the same time. Each person’s cursor carries their name, so two people are less likely to overwrite the same sentence.

① Properties such as author and approver. ② Who is in the note right now, and their cursor. ③ Topics, decisions and to-dos pulled out of the note itself.
The note detail view with the Live Context panel
  • Set an author and an approver. With an approver, the note becomes a request-and-approve flow.
  • Expand the properties to reach the remaining fields, such as dates.
  • Live Context extracts topics, decisions and to-dos from note content too.

Notes stay tied to the conversation

A note lives as a mark in the hub where it was created. From the note you can go back for context, and from the conversation you can open the note directly.

Filter a hub by mark type and pick notes to see only the documents produced there.
