How to Get a US Business Phone Number in Markhub

Why do calls vanish the moment you hang up?

Chats leave a trail, and video meetings get recorded. Phone calls are gone the moment you hang up.

"Please move our delivery to Tuesday."

"Let's confirm 40 pallets."

"Go ahead and refund that order."

Decisions happen on the phone more often than most teams realize, yet what was said stays in one person's memory or a scribbled note. Unless someone retypes it into chat, the rest of the team never knows the call happened.

The reason is simple. The phone sits outside the place where work happens. Calls happen on personal phones, and the work lives in team chat and task tools. The only bridge between them is someone typing it up by hand, and on a busy day that is the first thing to go.

A separate recording app does not fix it. You get an audio file, but someone still has to listen again, write it up and create the tasks. The recording is saved. The work still is not.

Markhub Phone sits in the middle of the call

Markhub Phone is a US business number you get right inside Markhub. Calls on that number are connected through Markhub, so it can transcribe and organize them without a separate recording app.

Here is how a call flows:

  1. Both ring. Incoming calls ring the desktop app and your phone at the same time. Answer on whichever is closer.
  2. It is written down as you talk. A side panel collects topics, decisions and draft to-dos during the call.
  3. It lands in your hub. When you hang up, the recording, summary and to-dos land together as one mark.
  4. Hand it off. Assign the to-dos to a teammate or an AI agent on the spot.

Calls that used to scatter outside your chat become work inside it.

During a call. Topics, decisions and draft to-dos build up in Live context while you talk.

After the call. The transcript is in place and four to-dos are sorted. Tap Add and each one becomes a to-do.

What works today

  • US numbers on the spot: Pick an area code (like 214) and your line is live right away.
  • Desktop calling: Make and take regular phone calls in the Markhub desktop app. No desk phone or call center software.
  • Move between devices: Answer on your phone, then tap "Move here" to bring the call to your desktop.
  • Live context: Topics, decisions and draft to-dos appear beside the call while you talk.
  • Call marks: Every finished call leaves one mark in your hub with the recording, summary and to-dos.
  • Contacts: Import your phone contacts, a CSV or vCard file, or Google Contacts to see names instead of numbers.
  • Call history: See outgoing, incoming and missed calls, and call back in one click.

Who it is for first

1. Small support teams

Take customer calls on your desktop, right next to the hub conversation. Because the call is transcribed, follow-ups like "refund requested, assign an owner" become to-dos the moment you hang up. From the first answer to the last follow-up, it all happens on one screen, without separate call center software.

2. Field and operations teams

In logistics, delivery, retail and construction, drivers, suppliers and store managers call before they type. Even when the field lead answers on their own phone, the call lands in the hub. Changes like "delivery moved to Tuesday" or "40 pallets confirmed" become to-dos and stay tracked until they are done. Promises that only lived in a phone call finally leave a record.

3. Teams calling US customers from abroad

Make and take calls on a US number from anywhere. English calls are transcribed and summarized, so there is less to write up afterward, and teammates in other time zones can see in the hub what was agreed.

How to get started

  1. Open the Phone tab on the Team plan or above.
  2. Pick an area code and get your US business number.
  3. Import your contacts and make your first call. Hang up and see the mark land in your hub.

What it does not do yet

  • One number per person. There is no shared team line or phone menu (IVR) yet.
  • US numbers only for now.
  • When you answer on your phone, it rings like a regular call.
  • Markhub numbers cannot call emergency services (911).

FAQ

Does Markhub Phone cost extra?

Only a $1 activation fee. Every seat on the Team plan and above includes one US number and 500 minutes a month. If you need more minutes, contact us.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Calls ring your own phone, so there is nothing to install on it. Markhub does the transcribing and summarizing, so the record stays in your hub even when you answer on your phone.

Do I need to tell people the call is recorded?

Recording consent rules differ from state to state in the US. Let the other person know the call is being recorded when it starts.

We already use team chat. Why take calls in Markhub?

If what you agree on the phone keeps missing your chat, that is exactly the gap Markhub Phone closes. When the call and the work that follows live in the same place, nobody loses track of who agreed to do what.
